The Sokoto Youth Emancipation Front (SYEF) has criticised the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) over its allegations against the Sokoto State Government and the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the claims as myopic, ridiculous and unfortunate.
The ADC had alleged that the state government directed hotels in Sokoto metropolis to deny its delegates accommodation ahead of its presidential campaign flag-off, initially scheduled for October 31 but later shifted to November 4.
The party also accused the APC and the state government of complicity in an attack on its female members and the seizure of its campaign truck, alleging that a ransom of N1 million was demanded.
Reacting in a statement issued by its spokesman, Comrade Abubakar S. Mohammed, SYEF said the hotels in question were not owned by the government.
“Hotels are not owned by the government. They are public commercial places. Everyone can go and lodge because they are business entities. It is myopic and ridiculous to blame the government. Dragging the name of Governor Ahmed Aliyu is unfortunate and unbecoming,” the group said.
On the alleged attack on the ADC’s female members, SYEF said the party should report such incidents to security agencies rather than blame the state government.
“If they have activity, they should inform security agents, not government. If there is a security breach, they will address it with the police if they are stopped, not the government,” SYEF stated.
The group urged the ADC to focus on its campaign preparations rather than blame the government, while calling on security agencies to investigate any genuine complaints and maintain peace in the state.
