Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, has urged corps members deployed to the state to use their professional knowledge and expertise to improve service delivery in schools, healthcare facilities and other public institutions.

Yahaya said the state needed their contributions to accelerate development, urging them to see their deployment as an opportunity to make a lasting impact rather than seek relocation without compelling reasons.

The governor spoke on Friday through the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Barrister Yusuf Abdullahi-Waziri, during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch C, Stream II corps members at the NYSC temporary orientation camp in Amada, Gombe State.

He said, “Gombe State needs your services, talent, knowledge, and expertise. Our state continues to pursue development across various sectors, and I believe your contribution can make a meaningful difference in our communities, schools, healthcare facilities and other establishments where you will be deployed.”
Yahaya urged the corps members to embrace their postings and become part of the state’s development journey, noting that their service year offered opportunities to build relationships, discover new possibilities and contribute to their host communities.
“See your deployment to Gombe State as an opportunity to make a lasting impact, discover new possibilities, and become part of our development journey,” he said.
The governor assured them that his administration remained committed to their safety and welfare, adding that necessary measures had been taken in collaboration with security agencies and other stakeholders to ensure a safe and conducive environment throughout their orientation and service year.
He also urged the corps members to uphold discipline, integrity and respect for constituted authority, while obeying camp regulations and cooperating with officials.
Yahaya commended the NYSC management, camp officials, collaborating agencies, community stakeholders and security agencies for their contributions to the successful organisation of the orientation exercise.
Earlier, the Gombe State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Regina Eke, disclosed that 1,201 corps members, comprising 686 males and 515 females, had registered for the orientation exercise.
Eke appealed to the state government to increase its subvention to the NYSC, support feeding arrangements during orientation and ensure the regular payment of corps members’ monthly stipends at their places of primary assignment.
She also assured the corps members that they would enjoy their stay in the state, saying relocation would only be necessary on health grounds.
The corps members were sworn in by the Chief Judge of Gombe State, Justice Halima Mohammed, represented by Justice Suleiman Abubakar.
