President Bola Tinubu has criticised former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, questioning his leadership capacity and suitability to govern Nigeria ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Tinubu, who spoke on Friday during a political campaign in Akwa Ibom State, accused Atiku of abandoning the Peoples Democratic Party for the African Democratic Congress while allegedly struggling with road-related issues in his home state of Adamawa.
The President also questioned Atiku’s ability to unite the country, insisting that he lacked the leadership qualities and sense of responsibility required to govern Nigeria.
He said, “The other one (Atiku) is still fighting over the roads in Adamawa where he comes from. He ran away from PDP and is now in ADC or somewhere. He is looking for the presidency.
“Will you give such a person power, who has no leadership quality, no sense of responsibility, no sense of cohesion that can do good for this country?”
Tinubu’s remarks form part of his renewed political attacks on opposition figures as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
