Chima Azubuike, Gombe state.
Chairman of Inter Party Advisory Committee (IPAC), Gombe state chapter Alh. Muhammed Garba, yesterday led a delegation to congratulate the Governor of Gombe state Alh. Inuwa Yahaya, on his victory, and to express their loyalty and support to his government.
Garba, observed that water supply in the state has improved, improvement in power supply in certain areas owing to the committees set up by the governor, distribution of fertilizer to local farmers for early planting season and recent appointments of government functionaries which have cut across. He said “We are certainly behind you, even though IPAC is a coalition of all the political parties, we want to assure you of our unflinching support so that your administration can succeed. We won’t mind if some of our members are considered in future appointments” he added.
Gombe state governor, Alh. Inuwa Yahaya, in his response appreciated members of the state Inter Party Advisory Committee, for their show of support during the recently concluded elections. He said “I want to use this opportunity to appreciate IPAC, for the support, extended to me and our political party. I promise to carry along as many of your members that are willing, let me also state that when appointment of cabinet commences IPAC, will be given fair chances, without sentiment despite the political differences. It is important to state clearly the carelessness of some politicians in handling issues, this led to a lot of financial challenges in the state during the Dankwambo administration where gratuities, claims running into billions were left unpaid. So I want to charge us that in playing politics, we should know that lives of people are tied to us. Integrity can not be divorced from politics and my party intends to bring change to governance in Gombe state” he noted.
Meanwhile, the main opposition party in the state, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was conspicuously absent as it had no representation in the delegation that paid the Governor a courtesy call.
