The State Coordinator NYSC Gombe, Mr David Markson, has implored corps members to take advantage of the free training to be handled by qualified trainers. He noted that the ten day Skill Acquisition on-camp training will expose corps members to skills like; cosmetology, Information and Communication Technology, Culture and tourism, food processing and preservation, agro-allied, construction, environment and leather works among other skills.
He said, “Time had past for dependence on the Government for white collar jobs. ,”The ball is in your court to learn a skill or two in other to augment your allowance and be employers of labour “
“It would be recalled that the Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier-General Shaibu Ibrahim, has given the go ahead to commence the post camp Training at the Integration Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Centre ; an edifice donated by Access Bank Plc for use in the Northeast Zone” he added.
Meanwhile, the Head of Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, NYSC Gombe, Mrs Nkiru Mmadumbu, also urged Corps members to say no to dependence on the Government and say yes to learning a skill. ” The Management of NYSC has plans for you to be self-reliant. Learn a skill today and smile Tomorrow as employees of labour”
“The training will be in batches in other to enable Corps members within the Northeast gain more experience through the post-Camp training” she noted.
With the dearth of wage employment opportunities, the National Youth Service Corps introduced the Skill Acquisition and Development Programme into the orientation course contents in 2012.
