Directorate of State Security Service, Gombe, has charged Corps members not to leave security entirely in the hands of security operatives. In a lecture delivered today at the Flag off of Lectures on security by Mr Yusuf Iliya, who represented the Gombe state Director.
He broadened the horizon of Corps members on national security and individual or personal security.
Mr Iliya, maintained that security should not be left in the hands of security outfits, it should be seen as everyone’s business.
“The essence of the lecture is to enable you know your new environment and also be acquainted with happenings around the globe. You need to understand the dynamics of security. Every environment has its unique security challenge . A major security challenge common to all the geological zones in Nigeria is kidnapping. You shall be given security tips at the end of this lecture to protect yourself” .
“The major threats to national security are; agitation for resource control, act of sabotage directed at the Country’s resources, destructive labour and students activities, boundary dispute,arm proliferation, activities of armed militia , unemployment and failure to recognise superiority of law among other things” he added.
The State Coordinator NYSC Gombe, Mr David Markson,
however enjoined the 1201, 2019 Batch B Stream II Corps members to take lectures seriously. “The NYSC has packaged the orientation course with a lot of exciting Programmes to groom you to be better citizens of the country. We must therefore attend every lecture with writing materials” he said.
