Gombe state government says it has no alternative but to key into the programs of the National Water Resource Capacity Building Network Centre.
Secretary to the Gombe state government Prof. Ibrahim Njodi, who stated this while playing host to Executives and Students of the centre said flood control, water management and the ability to mitigate the effects of climate change are incumbent for the survival of the universe.
Prof. Njodi noted that Gombe state like some other states across the country has suffered from the effects of flood disaster due to lack professionals in the management of the environment.
“The Gombe state government will continue to partner with the organizations lofty ideas of developing human capacity for a sustainable environment fit for human beings and animals alike” he said.
Meanwhile the Coordinator and Director of the North East zone of the National Water Resource Capacity Building Network Centre Prof. John Ohu, said the centre came into force due to the gaps inherent in water management and climate change.
He urge the Gombe state government to take advantage of the training centre.
“Government can enroll staff from relevant MDA’s so that they can obtain training in surface and ground water, water governance administration and finance as well as community participation among other areas” he said
You will recall that the organization was established by Federal Government in conjunction with the World Bank, was designed to among other things build human capacity
in the areas flood control, water management and climate change.
