Gombe state Government says it will open rural communities through construction of roads and provision of other amenities in order to improve the living conditions of rural dwellers.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya, stated this on sunday  at the 2019 Waja Day Festival held at Tallasse township stadium.
He said his administration has already approved the construction of Talasse-Reme, Yiri and Mwona roads in Balanga local Government area in order to facilitate easy movement of people, goods and services.
Yahaya who was represented by his Deputy, Dr. Manassah Jatau,  assured that government will  continue to prioritise rural development as well as security and welfare of the people.
“Government will continue to ensure conducive environment for communities in the state to harness their natural endowments and cultural potentials to contribute meaningfully to the growth  and development of the society.
“I want to encourage our youths because they constitute the vibrant population to imbibe cultural values and translate them  into job opportunities towards self-reliance and economic empowerment” he said.
Jatau, who is also the National President, Waja progressive Association ( WAPA) explained that the festival was to provide avenue for showcasing the cultural heritage of the Wajas and to strengthen unity and cohesion among the people.
The Deputy Governor whose speech was read by the Vice President of the Association, Alhaji Abdullahi  Tallasse, appreciated  Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his developmental strides in the  state and his support to their communities.
Chairman of the occasion and former Deputy Governor of Gombe state, Dr. John Yoriyo, decried the report of incessant insecurity, hatred, and political intrigues in the area. “We must eschew bitterness and embrace  unity of purpose for the progress of the people”.
During  the event, Wajas from home and diaspora appeared in colourful attires to showcase their cultural heritage.
Thinking outside of the box in news gathering. Relating issues without bias, fundamentally a voice to the voiceless.
