The State Coordinator NYSC Gombe,Mr David Markson, has called on Corps members and Camp Officials not to grant press interview.
Mr Markson stated this at the 2019 Batch C Stream I briefing of prospective Corps members, at NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp Amada on Wednesday.
He maintained that only State Coordinators are allowed to grant Interview to the press after getting clearance from the Director-General.
“That measure became necessary to avoid filling in the blanks by members of the public thereby dragging the good name of the NYSC Scheme in the mud” he said.
The State Coordinator took his time to go through the four cardinal programmes of the Scheme; the orientation course, primary Assignment, Community Development Service and Winding up and passing out.
He also warned corps members against the use of the social media handles to post camp activities in a bad light. “Grievances should be handled on camp through the Camp Director” he added .
Other issues discussed include, discipline, allowances, feeding, cleanliness, strict adherence to the orientation timetable, need not to deface the NYSC uniform ( as indicated on the banners mounted around the camp) kit items, swearing in ceremony and need not to riot or take part in anything that could incite crisis, these and many more.
