Gombe state governor Alh. Inuwa Yahaya, says his government is set to settle all accrued debt owed the Federal Airports Authority, FAAN since last administration in order to avert the closure of the Gombe airport scheduled for today, Friday.
This resolve to tackle all outstanding payments owed FAAN was contained in a press statement made available to Justthinkingaloud90 in Gombe by the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant Media, Ismaila Misilli, it reads partly
On coming to office in May, Governor Inuwa Yahaya had to intervene to get FAAN continue with its services in Gombe Airport.
This follows notice by FAAN, indicating its resolve to withdraw the services of its aviation security, as well as aerodrome rescue and fire fighting personnel, thereby effectively shutting down operations in some airports, including Gombe Airport from today, Friday, 15th November, 2019.
Following the latest notice, the Gombe State Government has committed to make another payment by the end of this month with a commitment to off-set all outstanding debts in subsequent months.
It will be recalled that FAAN had in April this year threatened to shut down Gombe Airport and eight (8) others that were indebted to the airports authority after an earlier ultimatum had elapsed.
