Gombe sets to Export Ornamental Flowers to Europe

Gombe state Governor Inuwa Yahaya, has said Gombe will maximize the advantage of college of Horticulture and Irrigation from Dadinkowa Dam to grow and export ornamental flowers to parts of Europe to boost revenue.
He stated this on thursday at the council Chambers, Gombe when the governor and some commissioners received a delegation from Federal College of Horticulture.
Governor Yahaya, noted that he is happy women and youths were empowered. it is shorter to take flowers from Gombe to Europe about 5 hours, unlike East Africa that is about 9 hours.
He said, “Without developing human Capacity there is no way we can change the fortune of Gombe state. Compared to East Africa that is about 9 hours to europe, Gombe is just about 5 hours to Holland. we could produce ornamental flowers and export to Europe faster and better, than those produced in East Africa.
Meanwhile the Provost of the College, Prof. Fatima Sawa, who promised to support the Gombe Goes Green 3G project an initiative of the state government. 
“We have trained over 10,000 and youths in various areas of Agricultural Entreprises and we can support the government in developing the state Agriculture in creating employment and avenue for generating wealth through various agricultural entreprises. As a college of Horticulture we can develop seedlings, multiple seedlings and help even in transplanting and management of the seedlings” Sawa said.
