The Gombe state governor Alh. Inuwa Yahaya, who was represented by his deputy Dr. Manassah Jatau, has urged the corps members to adapt to the situation of the camp and the state.
He stated this on thursday at the swearing in ceremony of (1400) one thousand four hundred batch C stream I corps members at the temporary camp ground, Amada, Gombe state.
He said they should not think that their culture , philosophy is the general laws of nature but they should adapt to the current realities.
“I know what you are passing through, School has no end, be ready to learn that is why the secret of survival is adaptation. If you are to survive try and adapt to the environment you have found yourself. Don’t think your culture , philosophy is the general laws of nature, you must adapt to another” he said
The governor promised that the permanent camp of the National Youth Service Corps which was converted to National use, as it serves as Boko Haram rehabilitation centre will soon be retrieved for the purpose it was built “very soon you will go back to your Permanent site located at Mallam sidi”.
Meanwhile the National Youth Service Corps Gombe state Coordinator Mr David Markson, noted that in the spirit of discipline that there has been an establishment of camp court to try erring corps members on camp.
He said that NYSC rewards hard work and disciplines erring corps members.
“In that regard, a camp court has been constituted to try corps members found wanting. Such corps members shall be tried and appropriate sanctions as contained in the NYSC Bye laws and Act shall be meted out on them. In the same vein, a reward system has been put in place to reward outstanding corps members and camp officials at the end of this exercise” he said.
The head of service Alh. Bappayo Yahaya, commended the effort of Director General of NYSC Brigadier General Shaibu Ibrahim for continuously bringing up new ideas in order to sustain the impact and relevance of the scheme ” his policy thrust of effective utilization of the potentials of corps members nationwide and strengthening collaboration with stakeholders ” .
