Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has said efforts are still on to ensure compliance of new price regime in Gombe .
According to Engr. Yahaya Maishera, Operations Controller Gombe field office, the directive from DPR Director Engr. Sarki Auwalu, was to enforce price compliance of the new price band of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), from N121.50 kobo – N123.50 kobo.
Maishera disclosed this on Tuesday in an interview with journalists at the commissioning of Shukuriyya gas plant in Gombe.
He said every marketer has opportunity to sell his product between the band noting that penal measures follows if it exceeds 123.50kobo.
The controller Said, “As soon as we received directives from Sarki Auwalu, we immediately swang into action. The directive is to ensure the new price band of PMS from N121.50kobo- N123.50kobo, which means every marketer has opportunity to sell his sourced products between this band, it shouldn’t exceed N123.50kobo.”
While noting that defaulters of the new price regime and profiteers were sealed and charged for failure to comply.
“Majority of the filling stations visited complied, while some did not comply. What we did was to monitor and control those that failed to comply by telling them to do the right thing. Those that refused to sell the Federal Government has taken into consideration those with old stock what we did was to let them know that the period given to them has elapsed, which they did immediately those that refused, were sealed and charged,” he stated.
He added that Automated Gas System (AGS) as introduced by DPR will hasten the commencement of Analogue to digital which will aid business of marketers.
