The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday, restated the resolve of the federal government to revitalize Primary Health Care providing nutrition services, as a primary focus to promoting exclusive breastfeeding and quality complementary feeding to end malnutrition in Children.

He disclosed this in his remarks during a webinar session with the theme ‘Innovative Financing Options for Nutrition: Unravelling the Bottlenecks’, organized by the four consortium – Aisha Buhari Foundation, International Society of Media in Public Health, Netw
ork for Health Equity and Development and Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre.
He said, “The federal government is focused on a new multi-sectoral plan of action to tackle challenges in nutrition. This is in a bid to restructure responses to nutrition. This plan is awaiting approval from the National Council.
“The national budgetary allocation to nutrition is focused on fortification, transportation of nutrition products and behavioural change.
“The federal government is committed to the revitalization of PHCs with the provision of nutrition services as a primary focus to promoting exclusive breastfeeding and quality complementary feeding.”
Meanwhile the chairman, Senate Committee on Health Senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe in his commitment promised to follow-up with the Executive for the reinstatement of the RUTF budget which was removed adding that Nigeria must agree on private funding mechanism.
