Gombe State Government has announced 4th of October as resumption date for boarding schools and 5th of October for day primary and secondary schools in the state.

 

 

Disclosing this on Thursday, at the state Ministry of Education during a briefing Commissioner for Education, Dr. Habu Dahiru said the resumption seeks to complete third term of 2019/2020 academic session which he added will last for 3 weeks as well as start first term from 25th of October which will last for 8 weeks and end by 18th of December, 2020.

 

Dahiru revealed that girl child learning centres, which is under the Better Education Service Delivery for All, which targets out of school children and tsangaya learning centres.

 

 

He said, “By this announcement therefore all schools are to open as follows; 4th October for boarding schools, 5th October for day schools including prinary, Islamiya and Tsangaya.

 

 

“Third term will start on 4th for boarding students and 5th for day students and end 23rd of October, 2020 (3 weeks), first term will commence on 25th October and end on 18th December,2020 (8weeks), while second term will resume on 10th of January 2021 and end 16th April 2021(14 weeks), whereas third term will begin on 2nd of May 2021 to August 6th 2021(14 weeks).

 

 

“The ministry however is calling on all school administrators, to continue to observe all the covid-19 protocols for safe school reopening, which includes Establishment of school health committee in schools, provision of hand washing facilities in strategic location in schools, use of infrared thermometer to monitor temperature, use of face mask and observing physical distancing.”

 

He added that the ministry will provide child assent form for testing of covid-19.

“We will also provide parental assent for covid-19 testing of child and wards. We will use the school readiness template at school levels to monitor full implementation of safety operations, inclusiveness, financing, monitoring, capacity building and coordination,” he stated.
