The Management of Gombe United Football Club on Tuesday explained the cause for it shift in resumption date earlier slated for 13th September, following the gradual commencement of sport activities.
According to the Chairman of the club Dr. Larry Daniel, the club thought it expedient to postpone training when officials realized that the lifted ban was for non contact sports, adding that football is not one of such.
He said, “September 13th was fixed following the announcement that ban on sporting activities had been lifted by the Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19 ; but only to realise that the ban lifted was on non contact sports.”
Daniel added that, “a new date for the resumption of the training would be communicated to the players and officials, pending the announcement on waiver on contact sports.
