Gombe settles land owners with N873m

Gombe state government on Wednesday, announced that N873 million has been paid as compensation to land owners in the state.
Disclosing this to newsmen, after exco meeting presided by Governor Inuwa Yahaya, the commissioner of Information Alhassan Ibrahim, hinted that land originally belongs to the government, adding that the payment was made due to the magnanimity of the governor.
Ibrahim added that the acquisition was done for public good, noting that it was hinged on development.
“So far we have paid N873, 214,193,43m this is the total compensation we have paid for various lands we have acquired for development purposes. All compensations have been paid and government is not owing any kobo.
“Compensations are paid for structures on the land. The governor magnanimously, said since the land is owned by the government, let us pay them something. The lands are for development,” he said.
