Secretary to the Gombe State Government (SSG), Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, on Thursday, challenged the newly elected leadership of Kaltungo Local Government to be prudent in managing the merger resources.
Njodi gave this charge when he received the Chairman and Council Members of the Local Government, who came on a courtesy call, adding that the backwardness of the Local Government is attributable to poor management of resources by it’s past leaders.
While appreciating the Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for putting in measures to improve the financial position of the Local Government, Njodi urged the chairman to explore the good will of the sons and daughters of the area in positions of authority.
Speaking further the SSG said the APC led administration in the State has laid a solid foundation needed for change of the State’s management of resource, while urging local councils to work and improve their financial base.
He also advocated for continued engagement of the State and Federal Government appointees of the area with a view to charting a course for the collective development of the Local Government.
The state scribe also reassured the Local Government Management team of his continued support through counseling and search for opportunities that will enhance the future of the council.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of Kaltungo Local Government Council, Alhaji Faruk Aliyu, said they were at the SSG’S Office to demonstrate support and appreciation to the Yahaya led administration for it’s support before, during and after the elections which spurred their victorious emergence.
Aliyu appealed for support of the SSG, other elected and appointed representatives of the area to help in repositioning the local government for the betterment of the people.
He disclosed that the council has already provided Land for the Federal Housing Project of which Kaltungo Local Government is a beneficiary.
