Chima Azubuike, Gombe
Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya on Tuesday, raised concern about the materials allotted the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress saying ‘it may not go round’.
Yahaya who is the first and only member to be revalidated in the state, revealed this at the party secretariat where the inaugural registration and revalidation exercise took place.
The governor further called on members to cooperate with the committee in charge of the exercise, to achieve the needed result.
Yahaya said, “I wish to call on the caretaker management committee of the party to open our windows and accept everyone. So our doors and windows are open for whoever wants to join APC. I call on all members to revalidate and interested members to come and join us because our strength is in our number.
“We have realized that what was brought for the registration may not go round, nonetheless we have asked the chairman of the committee at National Headquarters of the party to send more registration materials so that we meet the numbers expected in Gombe based on what they saw the readiness of our people to go by the rules they won’t have problem conducting this revalidation and registration exercise in Gombe. I urge members to cooperate with them across the 114 wards, 11 local governments and 2,218 polling units in Gombe state.”
On his part, Chairman, All Proressives Congress Revalidation and Registration in Gombe state, Dr. Danjuma Dabo, explained why the governor’s registration was moved to the secretariat, adding that the exercise is free from charges.
“The revalidation and registration of members of All Progressives Congress will commence with the registration of the governor of Gombe state in this very venue. It became necessary for us to come to this venue which is within the ward of the governor, the state Secretariat because we anticipated a lot of people will want to support him in this wonderful endeavour we didn’t want to take it to the Polling unit which is inside the school. It is not outside the guideline given to us to undertake this exercise.
“We reiterated on the first day we had meeting with stakeholders that this exercise is entirely free. Nobody is going to be charged a single penny. So Your Excellency, if you brought money for buying card, please keep it with your finance commissioner. There will be no discrimination from anyone in registering in APC, we are going to ensure anyone presented for registration is registered.
“We are going to commence unit registration because it is a bit late now, for people to go back to their unit and start registration. By 3pm this afternoon, all council chairmen and APC caretaker and local government committee will meet for final briefing and take off to their destinations with required materials for the operation,” Dabo said.
