Billiri crisis: Gombe Gov reviews curfew time to 2pm

Gombe State Government on Wednesday, reviewed the curfew imposed on Billiri Local Government Area of the State.
Since Friday evening, Billiri had been in 24 hours curfew, due to the violence that erupted from the protest, with the current order, restrictions will run from 6am to 2pm as from tomorrow, 25th February, 2021.
Announcing the review in Billiri, after meeting with representatives of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and the Muslim community, Governor Inuwa Yahaya, said he has seen the need to relax the curfew, due to the appreciable level of peace.
Yahaya further encouraged representatives of the two faiths to deemphasize religion in the ascension of the new mai.
“Due to the relative peace and security reports through, the chairman of the local government and AIG of zone 12. We have chosen to review the curfew time from 24 hours to 2pm.
“I call on you all to give peace a chance, so that normalcy can return,” Yahaya said.
Earlier, Speaker of Bauchi state Assembly, Abubakar Suleiman, paid the governor condolence visit at the Government House.
Suleiman said he was in Gombe to condole the governor and the people of the state over the Billiri crisis.
He added that Gombe has a long time history with Bauchi, which transcends neighbourhood.
He said, “I wish to call for peace and understanding among the two faiths.”
