Gombe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), has distributed relief materials valued at two million to displaced persons in the recent unrest that affected Billiri town.

Recall that the protest that turned violent made some residents of Billiri homeless, as some fled their abode and businesses for safety in close by communities.

Presenting a report to Secretary to the Gombe State Government (SSG), Prof.  Ibrahim Njodi, the Rescue and Rehabilitation officer of the Agency, Mohammed Garba, explained that food as well as non food items and some essential drugs amounted to over N2,100,000.

According to him they were procured and distributed to victims taking refuge in Kaltungo, Gujuba, Dogon- Ruwa,Awak and Patuwana areas, following the unrest.

Garba who also called on the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP’s), to make good use of the items said the  Inuwa Yahaya administration is concerned about their current predicament.

He said, “Hence the swift  response to cushion the sufferings of the people because government is concerned about their plight. It is our hope that they will make good use of the donated items.”

The relief materials which were handed over to Kaltungo Local Government Chairman, Adamu Aliyu was distributed across the six (6) locations that are hosting the IDPs.

The beneficiaries  mostly women and children appreciated Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his prompt response.
