Deputy Secretary General of United Nations, Amina Mohammed, has called for the enforcement of strong institutions across all levels.
Mohammed stated this on Tuesday, in her good will message at the unveiling of Development Agenda for Gombe state (DEVAGOM), held at the Banquet hall of the Government House.
According to the deputy UN scribe, who is also an indigene of the state, there is strong relationship between strong institutions and justice.
She said, “The 16th goal is about justice and strong institutions and without them you can not deliver what it is that the governor wants to deliver.
“Every civil servant in this state and beyond must understand that their job is to serve the people of Gombe. Without strong institutions; water, health we can’t do it.
“Without strong institutions, we can’t deliver justice, so people will feel excluded and will not take everyone along. It is really important that when the governor wants to improve, reform, and transform the civil service. It is not about the jobs you are going to lose. It about the strength, efficiency that as a child and educated in Kaduna, Borno, and other places of the world. Let’s go back to leave a strong civil service and institutions to deliver this plan.”
On his part, the governor of Gombe state, Inuwa Yahaya, while assuring full implementation of the 2021-2030 development plan said he will build transparency and accountability at all levels of government.
“We are also building the skills of our idle youth and ramping up support to our farmers. With the ongoing work on Wawa-Zange Grazing Reserve and the planned take-off of Dadin Kowa industrial park, Gombe State is on course to cement its status as the centre of agriculture, commerce and industry in the Northeast sub-region.
“There’s no doubt that implementing all these will require the mobilization of domestic and external resources and their effective utilization. To accomplish this, we have embedded in the plan policies and strategies to enhance efficiency, build transparency and entrench accountability at all levels of government. It is our vision to guarantee better value for money in our scare resources so as to foster rapid development of our dear State,” Yahaya said.
