Promoters of Akym International Marathon announces postponement

Organizers of the Akym International Marathon on Thursday, said the highly anticipated competition has been halted, adding that the event will be rescheduled immediately permission was received on large gathering.
Periscope Nigeria, gathered that the event was expected to be the first of it kind in Abia state, and it is sponsored by a gubernatorial aspirant in the state Onyekwere Akym Uche and the competition was supposed to harness raw talents and promote unity in the state.
While urging residents to bear with the inconveniences caused by the postponement, the promoters said they were ready to stage the competition whenever large gatherings were allowed to meet.
“We wish to inform all contestants and the people that the Marathon slated for March 2021 has been cancelled due to the pandemic (Covid-19).
“A new date will be announced once the relevant authority approproves large gatherings.
“We apologize for the inconvenience, we look forward to hosting the International Marathon race. God bless you all, God bless Abia state. O.A.U 2023.. The new Abia,” the statement stated.
