FUK Maiden Inaugural Lecture: Gombe SSG hails founder of Mahdi foundation

Secretary to the Gombe State Government (SSG), Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, has lauded the founder of Mahdi foundation Prof. Abdullahi Mahdi, for championing the course of environmental preservation in Nigeria.
Njodi gave the commendation on Tuesday, at the maiden Inaugural Lecture of the Federal University Kashere (FUK) organised by the out-going Vice Chanchallor of the institution Prof. Alhassan Mohammed Gani.
He said the mission of the foundation is in tandem with Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s, pet project – Gombe goes green initiative.
The state scribe, also commended the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Kashere (FUK), for initiating the lecture, adding that the institution should make it a monthly affair to afford experts the opportunity to compare note and share knowledge.
While commenting on the topic of the lecture: “Our Ties with the Green World” Njodi noted that human beings largely survives on plants, “the 3G initiative of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s administration was to plant at least One Million trees yearly in the State is to preserve and protect the environment,” Prof. Njodi said.
The SSG added that lecturers should always engage in research and publication to enhance human survival.
On his part, Prof. Alhassan Mohammed Gani, praised the Gombe Goes Green project of the current administration which he said will improve the quality of the environment and conserve the quality of human life
Gani who is a Professor of Botany said, “plants if properly nurtured offers the benefits of medicine, shade, ecological preservation, food, industrial raw materials as well as fruits for all human beings.”
Gani further advised researchers to work towards identifying better ways of growing and preserving plants for the healthy survival of humanity aside from wealth creation.
Meanwhile the SSG was accompanied to the occasion by the Commissioners for Environment Dr. Hussaina Goje, Science Technology and Innovation Dr. Aishatu Umar Maigari, Bashir Barau Yakubu member representing Kaltungo West in the State House of Assembly, Dr.Muazu Shehu Director General Research and Documentation Government House, Dr. Abdullahi Bappa Garkuwa and the Senior Special Assistant on Research and Documentation Dr. Mohammed Adamu.
