Wife of the Governor of Gombe State,  Asama’u  Yahaya, on Monday, reiterated the importance of education, while calling  on women to equip their children most especially girls to meet the current challenges of life.

Yahaya made this disclosure in Gombe during the celebration of the 2021 International Women’s Day organized by Ministry of Women Affairs Gombe.

March 8 is International Women’s Day, with 2021 theme as “Choose to challenge. ”

The wife of the governor said if a girl child was denied the opportunity to go to school, she would never have the chance to unveil her untapped talent and potential to the growth of the world.

She said, “The solution to problem girls were born to solve would remain unsolved if they don’t get educated hence the need for every girl child to be in school for better future.

“I am challenging  my fellow women to rise turn our world ,say no to forces militating against the Education of Girl-child.”

According to her, Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s commitment in giving women the chance to reach their full potential in the state and the country at large is outstanding.

Also speaking,  Naomi Awak, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development said the Ministry expressed the resolve of government to tackle various impediments affecting women.

“We would do everything humanly possible to  ensure the speedy passage of laws associated to gender based violence in the state,” the commissioner said.

On her part, Dudu Manuga, urged Gombe women to regain their voice, adding that “women must rise and say no to gender based violence and other forms of abuses.”
