Key into Hajj Savings Scheme, Gov Yahaya tasks Gombe Muslims

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, has urged Muslim faithfuls to key into the Saving Scheme of National Hajj Commission and Ja’iz Bank to achieve their dream of going on Hajj.

Yahaya handed the charge on Tuesday, at the Launching and Sensitization programme of Hajj Saving Scheme, adding that low income earners should take advantage of the scheme by Saving in a bid to reach their target.
The Governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Ibrahim Njodi, said the scheme is practiced in most developed societies, stressing that it offered intending Pilgrims opportunity to pay themselves without depending on others.

He further assured that his administration will closely monitor the scheme to ensure no depositor in the State is shortchanged stressing that “the bank must be open, transparent and honest in dealing with customers.”
Yahaya further reminded participants that saving for Hajj Pilgrimage is good as protecting self , family or neighbour’s against disease such as Covid- 19.

He said Muslim intending Pilgrim’s could not perform Pilgrimage in 2020 because of the Covid- 19 Pandemic, calling on the Muslim Ummah especially Scholars, traditional and Community leaders to partake in the ongoing Covid-19 Vaccination for the good of all.
He reminded the gathering that the devastating effect of the Pandemic in global economy and indeed other attendant challenges urging the people to take a clue from President Muhammadu Buhari and himself as they have taken their own vaccination.
He said, “Government is not compelling any one to take the vaccine it indeed incumbent on the administration to encourage people take it as part of measures to prevent the sprayed of decease.
“The general public should not relax in observing Covid-19 protocols which includes wearing of face Mark, frequent hand washing and social distancing.”

Also, chairman National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) Alh. Zikirullah Hassan, said the saving initiative is significant at the moment going by the current trends.
Hassan was represented by a national commissioner in the hajj commission Suleiman momoh
He added that the success of the scheme is dependent on the support of all and sundry.
“This is a dream come through if hajj must be taken to the next level, as it is done in some parts of the world.
Intending pilgrims do not have to sell their property or depend on their well to do relations,” Hassan said.
