Babaita assumes office as Gombe CP, kicks against corruption

Gombe state recently deployed Commissioner of Police, Ishola Babaita, has warned the rank and file against bribery and corruption, adding that his reign has zero tolerance to such clogs.
Babaita also assured that the state would witness reinvigorated intelligence led policing, urging the residents to brace up for community involvement in the quelling of all forms of criminality.
The Commissioner who took over from Shehu Maikudi as the 20th helmsman, made this disclosure on Monday, at the Police command, while addressing Journalists.
He itemized; intelligence led policing, community led policing, visibility policing as fulcrum of his stay in office.
He said, “My coming to the command is normal in the police duty, to serve in various capacity and been the czar now of Gombe police command. I wish to assure members of the public of good service delivery to ensure the state maintains the record of being relatively calm. I will not allow the human rights of residents to be infringed during my tenure of Gombe. I will ensure that male, female, big, small will never have their rights to be infringed as we will follow due process of law to prosecution of cases.
“There would be zero tolerance to corruption because if you don’t kill corruption, corruption will kill you and I will not allow any of my officers both junior and senior ones to be involved in any corrupt practices.
“We also want police to be visible in every nook and cranny of the community so that we create security to members of the public. Soon you would see police men at various points and junction doing visible policing, this will make our people feel secure.”
While calling on criminal elements in Gombe to migrate to other states, adding that the current heat would be too hot to contain them.
“I will warn criminals in the state to find another places, as the new Gombe state man will not tolerate any crime and criminality.
“I will ensure that intelligence led policing will be the style of my own administration; in the sense that community policing is entrenched by making use of the good spirited people of Gombe by gathering intelligence before any crime is committed you nip it in the board,” Babaita added.
