Why leaders must emulate Yahaya Bello -Deputy Gov, Onoja
Chima Azubuike, Gombe
Kogi State Deputy Governor, Edward Onoja, has called on leaders to emulate the leadership styles of his principal, governor Yahaya Bello.
Onoja made this disclosure in Gombe, shortly after receiving a conferment of Honorary Professor of Human Resource Management by Murya Daga Arewa Bishops (Voice of the Christian Clerics of 19 States of the North) Clerics support for good governance, on behalf of Yahaya Bello.

Onoja further revealed that Nigeria is not in need of resources; both human and natural, adding that what was required is the ability to optimize what is readily available.
He said, “Every leader today in Nigeria, in public office naturally and ordinarily has the duty of promoting unity and tolerance. This is exactly what His Excellency, the governor of Kogi State, my principal has been doing from the get go when he took oath of office five years, and four months ago.
“He has broken the barrier of ethnicity in Kogi State, replacing that with bridges of synergy and partnership along ethnic, tribal divides. It is therefore very key to encourage and solicit other public figure leaders in positions to emulate the leadership style.

He stressed that tolerance and unity can not be overemphasized for National cohesion of the country.
“Again, tolerance, unity would naturally foster a prosperous Nation. What we want as a Nation is secured Nation, united Nation and a prosperous Nation. These are all what Nigerians crave for and it lies in the leadership styles of all from the very 3rd tier of government, to the very top.
“If we emulate these, Nigeria would be the star of the African contingent and the world.
“The problem of any society or Nation is not the lack of natural resource but rather the ability to optimize the natural resources, using the human capital that are available for the good of all,” he added.
Also, Bishop Ibrahim Dauda, National Chairman, Clerics for Good Governance, who presented the award to the governor
said Bello, has distinguished himself among his counterparts, adding that he is the first governor to erect a chapel for christians in the government house.
“The purpose of giving Governor Yahaya Bello this award is to tell every Nigeria that whatever God entrusts in your hand. He entrusted it because you are a channel to fulfill his mission by reaching others without language barrier or tribal sentiment.
“We have seen that Governor Yahaya Bello being a young man, according to the history of Kogi government for the past 28 years there was no Christian chapel in the government house and today, as the man that has the country at heart that loves everyone has built chapel for Christians to feel sense of belonging. So from the clerics set up we say he deserves to be be appreciated so that others will emulate.”
