51 Ex councillors dump PDP for APC in Gombe state

No fewer than 51 former Local Government councillors under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday, defected to All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe.
Fielding answers to journalists, spokesman of the defectors, Joseph Kwati, who represented Kaltungo local government said they were convinced by Governor Yahaya’s development strides within his two years in office.
The councillors who were drawn from across the 11 local governments of the state, were issued with APC membership card at the party’s Secretariat.
Kwati who was also the former Secretary, councillors’ forum in Gombe, revealed that the attainments of both parties are not comparable.
“We dumped PDP when we compared the achievements of APC in two years.
“I decided on my decision, no one either approached me or solicited my crossover, I was merely convinced and wished to join moving the state ahead,” he said.
On his part, APC vice chairman, who received the former councillors’ Ado Gabani said the defectors were swayed by the leadership strength of the state Governor, adding that they were convinced on their own to jump ship.
Gabani added, “our new members were convinced by Governor Inuwa’s achievements.
“Let me add that they have all been issued membership cards.”
