Gombe-Bauchi Boundary Demarcation: Gombe Deputy Gov sues for calm, restrain

Gombe State Deputy Governor, Dr. Manasah Jatau has said boundary demarcations are not meant to severe existing relationship but for administrative purposes and convenience.
The Deputy Governor made the statement during a sensitization meeting on the permanent demarcation of Bauchi/Gombe Interstate Boundary Sector Two at the Town Hall in the Local Government Secretariat, Darazo LGA, Bauchi State.

The Deputy Governor, who is also Chairman, Gombe State Boundary Committee sued for restrain and calm between the affected communities, calling on them to continue with their existing inter marriages, social and economic activities for sustainable growth and development.
He noted that considerations of economic potentials in areas under questions tempt people to overreact without recourse to existing relationship, stressing that there is no amount of benefit that can compare to human life.

He said, “People fight because of oil and other resources, but I assure you that Bauchi and Gombe will get their share, even foreigners shall benefit from it, as long as we live in peace and allow the activities continue.”
He expressed delight that the Gombe/Bauchi boundary issue which lingered for about 25 years since creation of Gombe State is coming to reality in their time, attributing the success to the current Governors of the two states who, agreed that they don’t want an inch over their legitimate portion of land.
He appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Boundary Commission, the Governors of Bauchi and Gombe, Chairmen of the affected Local Governments, and Traditional Rulers for their support towards peaceful resolution and demarcation of the boundaries.
The Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Sen. Baba Tela said that it is significant to demarcate the boundaries for the sake of convenience and stronger political stability, while socio- cultural and economic activities continue to flourish between the various interlinking communities.
He noted that the Chairmen of the affected Local Government Areas and Traditional Rulers have a task of educating the people the right orientation about the true nature of work.
The Deputy Governor who is also the Chairman, Bauchi Sate Boundary Commission, represented by the Executive Secretary of the Commission appreciated the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, the National Boundary Commission, Governors of Bauchi and Gombe, as well as other stakeholders for their support towards ensuring actualization of boundary demarcation between the two States.
In their separate remarks the Emir of Dukku, Alh.Haruna Abdulrasheed represented by District Head of Kunde, Alh.Bello Manga and the Emir of Bauchi, Alh.Rilwanu Adamu, represented by Emir of Ganjuwa Alh. Baba Mohammed Gidado, expressed happiness over the continuation of the demarcation of the Gombe-Bauchi Sector Two.
They expressed their full support to ensuring the borders are peacefully demarcated for the benefit of their people.
Also speaking, Chairmen of Dukku, Alh. Jamilu Ahmed, Kirfi in Bauchi state, Alh. Garbage Musa, and Ganjuwa also in Bauchi, represented by his vice, Ibrahim Shehu pledged to encourage their people to sustain the age long peaceful co-existence for their overall good.
Earlier in his address of welcome, the Chairman Darazo Local Government Area, Engr.Bello Mahmud Yayaji welcomed the Deputy Governor of Gombe State and all the dignitaries to the sensitization meeting of Permanent Demarcation of Gombe- Bauchi Interstate Boundary Sector Two.
He explained that the meeting was designed to sensitize people of the affected communities to acknowledge the fact that boundary demarcation is not to severe relationship but for administrative purposes and convenience, calling on them to continue to sustain the existing relationships.
