Take advantage of skills not elusive white collar jobs – Gombe NYSC

The 2021 Batch ‘A’ Stream II Corps members have been implored to choose from the twelve set skills and sub-set to gain the required Entrepreneurship Skills in order to stem the tide of unemployment.
State Coordinator NYSC Gombe, Mrs Ada Imoni, made this disclosure on Tuesday, while declaring open the Programme.
She revealed that one of the mandates of NYSC Skills Acquisition training was to contribute meaningfully to the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals, by reducing extreme hunger and poverty.

She added that the programme, nationwide was targeted at the Nigeria graduate Youth and fully designed within the framework of the in camp and post camp for corps members.
Speaking on funding options of Corps members’s business proposals, Imoni said the SAED Department of the NYSC has created opportunities for financing such proposals through the Central Bank of Nigeria in collaboration with Commercial banks as well as the Bank of industry.
She maintained that a lot of Corps members have already benefitted from the Graduate Entrepreneurship Fund (GEF), adding that Unity Bank is rolling an enterprise development programme titled “Corpreneurship in the NYSC Orientation camps which offers a sandwich training and competition, leading to the award of business funds as prizes.

In the Course of the on camp training, Corps members would be exposed to the following set skills with sub-set; Agro-allied, Food processing and presentation, culture and tourism, cosmetology, Information and Communication Technology, Construction, Environment, Beautification, power and energy, education , film and photography and automobile.

Introduction to Entrepreneurship Development Programme was given by the State Coordinator, National Directorate of Employment, Alhaji Hassan Mustapha and motivational talk by Mr Victor Akpan of Febstar driving school.
