Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Gombe command says auto crashes across the state have reduced to considerable level.
Briefing the press on this year’s West Africa Road Safety Organisation (WARSO), the sector commander, Ishaku brahim said, “it gives me joy to note that there has been decline in crashes lately.all I require of the road users is total support and understanding.”
He added that his command was poised to ensure no record of accident in the coming Eid-fitri celebration.
He said the command had started putting measures in place to achieve the feat.
Ibrahim disclosed that the command in the last six months had been going to common gathering places like churches, mosques, garages and markets to campaign against the ravaging COVID-19 as well as the need to always observe traffic rules.
On the concern and relevance of the COVID-19 pandemic to the command’s responsibilities, the sector commander added, “crashes recorded as a result of wrongful usage of the road, if not contained could add up to burden of the pandemic resulting in economic, social and humanitarian crises.”
Reacting to this year’s theme: “Road Safety consciousness in the midst of global pandemic” further, he said the command visited motor parks to carryout public enlightenment and dole out facemasks “to encourage the public not to neglect the use of facemasks even as they embark on their journeys.
“The need to observe COVID-19 protocols must not be jettisoned as the pandemic has not yet been eradicated,” he stressed.
