Gombe State Deputy Governor, Dr. Manassah Jatau, says the state would consider taking loan from the World bank to address erosion problems in the Federal College of Education (Technical) Gombe.
He told a Presidential Visitation Panel, led by Prof. Kenneth Okiongbo, who were in Gombe on an assessment visit to the school that though a federal establishment, the people of Gombe State are major beneficiaries of the college.
Jatau received the Presidential Panel on behalf of the State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya.
Recall that the Presidential Panel was inaugurated on 12th April, 2021 in Abuja to carryout their assignment in the aforementioned areas within the period of 2011 – 2015 and 2016 – 2020.
According to him, the intervention to the college would not be out of place hence, it is to the advantage of Gombe State.
He said, “State Government had already intervened in the erosion control of the college through diversion of some major structures around the State Mega Park which is very close to the school.
“Government was working assiduously to the reality and completion of the work on the erosion sites.
“Government is comprised of many educationists, as such, it is very sensitive to matters that has to do with the educational development of the State.”
He then called on the panel, especially the school management to assist the State owned College of Education Billiri which is in it’s tender stage, in various aspects of it’s development.
Earlier, Chairman of the Presidential Panel, Prof. Okiongbo, told the Deputy Governor that they were in FCE (Tech) Gombe to assess the performance of the college in the areas of governance, academic standard, physical infrastructure, administration and finance of the college.
He called on the State Government to bring more interventions to bear in the school in the areas of erosion control and road infrastructures. He stated however that the school is well managed and gave kudos to the management.
