Gombe State commemorates 2021 National Day of Mourning

The National Day of Mourning and Reflection for all Victims of Violent Killings in Nigeria.
May 28 serves as National Day of Action to mourn victims of Violence and insecurity.
The call to Action happened in different parts of the country. In some states with less security challenges the event was heralded with protest on the streets.

But in North East the Team leaders agreed to mark the day with town halls due to the security challenges.
In his presentation, Chairman of Non Governmental Organization, who is also Gombe state Team leader for the programme, Amb. Ibrahim Yusuf (3000), identified some key points towards mitigating possible spread of insecurity.
while urging government to be vigilant towards addressing the security issues, the ANGO boss reiterated that the country would be a better place for all citizens when killings are stopped.

He also called the Federal Government to equip the security agencies, with requisite tools, stressing that contemporary security issues are better dealt with with sophisticated knowledge.
Yusuf also tasked security Agencies to work hard in tackling security issues around the country.
Guest speakers however, made vital contributions, while yielding solutions to the myriads of security issues in Nigeria.
The speakers includes;
National Orientation Agency (NOA)
Association of Non governmental organization (ANGO)
Department of State Security Service (DSS)
Nigerian Police Force (NPF)
Civil society organization (CSOs).
Jama’atu Nasirul Islam(JNI)
Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN) and so on.
Also, Religious leaders pointed out the need for citizens to include Nigeria in their daily prayers.

This is indeed a step of consciousness towards mitigating the rising tide of insecurity and violent killings. Gombe State has really initiated a trend that should be sustained. May Nigeria succeed.
