Govt warns against mismanagement of basic health care provision funds in Gombe

Gombe State Commissioner for Health Dr. Habu Dahiru, has issued sterning warning against any attempt to mismanage funds meant for Basic Health Care Provision Funds in the State.
Dahiru gave the warning on Monday, while speaking during the orientation on the Basic Health Care Provision Funds (BHCPF), implementation process and signing of service level agreement between the State Primary Health Care and State Contributory Health Care Management Agency in Gombe.
He noted that over 100 million had been released by the state government for the smooth take, stressing that the initiative was geared towards providing medical support to all.
Dahiru said, “Let me state clearly here that these funds must be used Judiciously in line with the guidelines establishing the programme and appropriate financial records kept in the facilities. Any mismanagement of the funds will not be tolerated by the government.
“Our participation in the BHCPF was made possible through the establishment of the Gombe State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency and payment of 100 million Naira counterpart fund by this administration.”
Also, Executive Secretary of State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency Dr. Abubakar Musa, said the agency had enrolled over 25,000 poor and the vulnerable individual in the state, adding that the more would be achieved with more support.
He stated that before the end of the year the Gombe State Contributory Health care Management Agency would enroll 10 per cent of the state population as targeted beneficiaries.
On his part, Gombe State Primary Health Care Development Agency Executive Secretary, Dr. Abdulrahaman Shuaibu said 114 primary Health care would provide free health care services in the 11 local government areas in the state.
“The two agencies responsible for the implementation of the basic health care provision fund and we are fully ready to start the programme in the state,” Shuaibu revealed.
