About eight lives, 33 worship centres are reportedly lost to the infamous Billiri crisis.

Recall that Billiri crisis of March 19 2021, was an offshoot of delay in the pronouncement of Mai Tangle, the Paramount ruler of the area, this resulted in the formation of the committee of inquiry by the governor Muhammadu Yahaya, to verify the extent of damage.

Presenting the committee’s findings on Tuesday, to  governor Yahaya, at the Exco Chamber of Government House, Commissioner for Internal Security and Ethical Orientation Adamu Kupto, who is also the chairman said the committee embarked on assessment tour to the affected areas seven times.

Kupto who refused to mention the estimated sum the committee recommended for compensation, said amongst the terms of reference opened to the committee was to ascertain the number of lives lost, level of destruction, to assess the cost implications.

He said, “About 8 lives were lost, in the course of the assessment, we realised that about 41 houses were affected, 401 business premises out of the 401 business premises 335 belongs to an individual while 66 belongs to the local government.

“33 worship centres; 32 mosques and a church were affected. There were also motor vehicles, goats and other valuables bearing various degrees of damages.

“After due diligence we were able to assess the extent of damages most are contained in the report that we are going to submit now. Also there were recommendations.”

Also, Governor Yahaya noted that his administration meant well, stressing that justice would be done.

According to him, the reason for the formation of the committee was to entrench healing and brotherhood.

“Ordinarily, anything that can be resolved between two brothers now end up with a scuffle and may lead to death.

“Whatever you recommend or whatever we pay, you can not pay for human life, you can imagine so many lives. I have not seen your report details but I know you can not place value on human life,” Yahaya said.

He added that the recommendations would be implemented in a just manner, “So that we don’t attract more enemies than friends. Poverty disease and hunger have no eyes when they catch they just catch anybody whether you are a Muslim, Christian or Animist or whether you are Hausa, Fulani, Tangale, Waja or Lunguda, humanity is one,” he said.

I disagree with this report, because is not true, and if the governor accept the report it means the governor supposed liers, because I know the number of waship center such as mogues in billiri at all is not upto 15, so don’t think you can just come and forward felse number of mogues in burn in billiri I disagree with that, the governor should not accept the report is fake. and for shops is numbered 401 is not true, is a lie is not true, I disagree with that, I prepare if the governor want to know the truth all the owner of the shops should come out and show is shops in the present of all so that to know the truth, but you cannot frem fake shops because you want the governor to accept you as a worthy person, remember the report you give you will be judge by God Almighty on the judgement day. You better said the truth and be free than to tell lie and accepted by the world, I don’t support what happened in billiri and I don’t support evel, I am a Christian I have three (3) Muslims boy in my house I take all there responsibilities, one of them is graduate of sos/ iss, one is in part two (2) computer science, one is secondary School, and I never one day hate them I never one day take them to church, in treat them as I treat my own children, and again my mother senior sister she’s a Muslim seventeen years (17), who is buy Ram and clothes every sallah both Ramadan, and laiyah, and she pray for me every time, so what do you mean? We should hate each other or what? please don’t bring hatred between Tangale and none Tangale leaving together in billiri, we love each other, I urge you to change your report and bring the true report, you gain nothing in laying again somebody, or hate somebody. Remember your been sworn as trusted committee before caring out the the work. But please go round the all billiri and verify how many mongues in billiri first.
