FCH Gombe matriculates 788 students
The Federal College of Horticulture, Dadin-Kowa, Gombe State on Saturday, matriculated 788 students at its 13th Batch for the 2020/2021 academic session at the Mallam Adamu Bello Library Complex of the College.
While addressing the matriculating students, the Provost and Chief Executive of Federal College of Horticulture, Dr.Babawuro Mahmoud Ali, welcomed parents, family, and friends present at the occasion, particularly the students for being the bonafide members of the College.
Ali stated that the College would continue to maintain the mandate of training students for the awards of certificates in various fields of Agriculture and related disciplines , adding that the College would continue to provide qualitative learning materials ,equipment and conducive environment to enhance qualitative teaching and learning.
He further explained that the students are trained so that they could compete in agricultural sector by contributing to the National economy through self employment and wealth creation.
The Provost used the occasion to urge the students to focus on their studies in order to graduate within the stipulated time,While warning the students to shun exam malpractice, cultism,drug abuse and display good conduct to both staff and lecturers so as to promote and maintain the good image of the College.
He said, “Students will continue to enjoy good welfare but we will not condone or tolerate the misuse of College equipment and facilities. I want to charge you to study hard to justify your academic performances in the College.”
The Provost added, “Let me assure you all that more programmes will be accredited in no distant time as the College continues to grow and expand in population and infrastructures.”
Also speaking, Deputy Provost, Dr. Emon Parmaina Matai, lauded the efforts of both parents and family friends for coming to felicitate with the College despite the challenges of covid-19 pandemic that has bedeviled the country.
According to him, the certificates acquired are not based on academic performance only but to showcase character and learning,While urging the students to embrace Agriculture as a business to create wealth and employment.
Earlier, Acting Registrar Alhaji Mohammed Gidado graciously presented and administered the total of 788 matriculating students for Oath taking by various head of Departments and these includes: 204 ND and HND Students from the Animal Health Technology Department,51 ND students of Science Laboratory Department,31 HND from Agriculture Extension Management.
While 64 HND students from Cooperative and Economic Management Department and 39 ND students from same Department respectively.
Also the Department of Agriculture Technology had 24 HND students,35 ND and 81 OD students of Agric Bio Environment Technology.
Others presented by Gidado are; 17 HND students from Horticultural Technology,17 HND students of Pest and Management Technology and 5 ND students from horticultural Technology Department and finally 220 Computer and Library students of Ordinary Diploma Students from the Preliminary And General Studies Department respectively.
