FG commissions vital equipment in Gombe Hospitals

Federal Government has shocked the vacuum in the dearth of medical facilities with the provision of vital equipment in Gombe.

The items donated to Federal Teaching Hospital and Specialist Hospital Gombe includes; Ultrasound scan machine, Digital x-ray machine, Oxygen concentrators, Theatre beds, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) etc.
Speaking on Thursday, during the virtual handing over of the vital equipment, which is in partnership with National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), Minister of Special Duties and Inter Government Affairs Dr. George Akume, said the items would enhance the functions of health workers in both public facilities.
Represented by the Dr. Bello Maigari, Executive Secretary of NLTP, stressed that government expects break through following the donation.
Akume said that the federal government expected the vital equipment to impact the delivery of medicine to the poor and indigent.
He said, “I congratulate the good people of Gombe State on this very special occasion of hand over of these equipment to Specialist Hospital, and Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe.
“As we are told that each time equipment is donated it helps the doctors in making progress or break through in a certain medical area. Government hopes that the hospital management and the state would put the equipment to proper use for the benefit of the good people of Nigeria, particularly at this critical time when vital equipment are in sound supply in the country.”

Also speaking, Chief Medical Director of Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe Mohammed Abdullahi, said the donation would help shock the dearth in equipment in the tertiary institution.
While lauding the federal government for the proactiveness in supplying the facility with the needed equipment said the institution requires an overall.
Abdullahi said, “We are appreciative of the equipment donated. The facility is over stretched in terms of space, over 100,000 patients have benefitted from the donation. We are still appealing for interventions especially as it relates to alternative power source.”

On his part, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Habu Dahiru, noted that the state health facilities would be better for it, owing to the donation to both referral points in Gombe.
He assured that the equipment would be well utilised to serve the needs of patients, while lauding the effort of Buhari led administration.
