National President of Gombe State Students Association (GOSSA), comrade Aliyu Sa’ad Hassan, has decorated the Secretary to the Gombe State Government Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, with a medal of honour for his contribution towards the welfare of students in the state.
Performing the ceremony in the presence of students from different tertiary institutions across the country, the GOSSA National President said the honour became necessary in view of the fact the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of which the SSG is a part of has performed credibly well in the area of students welfare.
He said, “The first issue we made emphasis during our initial visit to you sir has to do with the non payment of students scholarship from 2016 to 2017 academic session up until 2020 when His Excellency made the payment with help of the SSG who have helped in the struggle.”
The GOSSA National President equally commended the Gombe State Government through the SSG for facilitating the renovation of its National Secretariat which has been in dire need of attention for so many years.
He further revealed that the State Government under the leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya responded to the Association’s request for mobility through the resuscitation of their grounded vehicle pending the procurement of a new one.
He explained that students of Gombe State origin are happy with the payment of their scholarship after four years of needless delay, saying that the intervention was a soothing relief to both students and parents alike.
On his part, Secretary to the Gombe State Government (SSG), Prof. Njodi said students and by extension the youth have become the symbol of his movement.
He said the administration of Governor Yahaya is left with no other choice than to revamp the education sector which has suffered years of neglect from previous administrations in the state.
“Our concern has been predicated on fact that there was a dangerous pointer that if you want to destroy a society you destroy the Education.
“Don’t shoot anybody don’t send any nuclear bomb, if you destroy the Education system is a matter of time they will begin to fall and the whole system will collapse,” Njodi said.

He regretted the non challant attitude displayed by the immediate paste administration towards the educational sector, saying such policy direction could spell doom to the intellectual development of an individual and by extension that of the entire society.
He added, “Today we are living witnesses we have started renovating our schools we have started bringing back sanity and life to our schools, the President has said it we have brought up the payment of scholarship up to 2020 and we are not going to stop.”

Njodi revealed that the administration of Governor Yahaya is committed to bequeathing a state where young people can walk with their shoulders high.
