Gombe Civil servants receive salaries, pensions ahead of sallah celebration

Gombe state Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, has directed the payment of salaries and pensions for all workers in the state, including those in the local governments.
According to the Commissioner for Finance, Muhammad Magaji, who made the decision of government known on Saturday, the directive has since been implemented.
With this latest development Gombe State has joined the league of states who have paid their workers for a smooth sallah.
He said, “All workers and pensioners have been paid to enable them celebrate the eid el- Kabir sallah festivity.”
Magaji added, “The Governor also approved the sum of N73.2m for the payment of compensation to 198 land owners who had their lands reclaimed by government for various development purposes.
He continued, “96 land owners were paid N48.2m in Kaltungo to allow for the construction of the permanent site of the recently established Federal Polytechnic Kaltungo.
“In Gona Akko LGA, 102 land owners received N25.06m as compensation for the proposed Gulf course to be constructed through a Public-Private Partnership arrangement by the Gombe state Government.”
Meanwhile, Former Governor Danjuma Goje, senator representing Gombe Central has doled cash to his constituents to enable them celebrate this season.
Represented by his Personal Assistant, Adamu PA, the package was given in good faith, while urging them to show love to others.
The beneficiaries of the donations are; party stakeholders, executives, elders, orphans, less privileged as well as traditional and religious leaders drawn from his Gombe Central Senatorial District.
He maintained that the gesture would as always give his constituents a sense of belonging.
“As usual, this gesture today will no doubt put smiles on the faces of many families in Gombe Central Senatorial District to fulfil their religious obligations,” he said.
He further congratulated the beneficiaries in advance and urged them to imbibe the spirit of Eid-El-Kabir by extending the goodwill to all the people of the Constituency, adding that the lawmaker had been relentless assisting his constituents in so many ways that includes educational assistance to youths and others that had given the youths a sense of belonging.
