Ibrahim Dankwambo painted, commissioned unfinished mega motor park – Gombe Gov

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, has lamented the situation where former governor Dr. Ibrahim Dankwambo, partly painted and commissioned some buildings at mega motor park in the metropolis without completion.
Yahaya made this disclosure on Saturday, when the Commissioner for Housing; Abdullahi Kwami, conducted him and other members of the State Government round the facility, located adjacent to Federal College of Education Technical.
Recall that the governor in his earlier visit in 2020 said the project was supposed to cost N6.2bn, as work started in 2012 and was supposed to last 28 months.

Yahaya revealed that upon completion of the project by December 2021, vehicles at Bauchi park would be moved to the mega park to create space for the construction of state secretariat.
He wondered why the past administration of Dankwambo hurriedly painted when work was yet to be completed after about seven years of awarding the contract.

According to him, “When I came here in December 2020, then we concluded on the takeoff or second take off because this project started in 2012 by the last administration of Ibrahim Dankwambo, and for seven years until May 2019.
“They stopped work and claimed to have finished work that is why you can see paint outside and even commissioned this project which was at 39 percent completion.
“This park is more of a civil engineering work, the building is not even complete which they painted is not even complete but today, we thank God we have seen where we are at 70 percent completion. It is all inclusive but civil and building work. The target we set for the contractor is for them to finish by December 2021.”
Yahaya boasted that his administration would endeavour to complete awarded contracts, while urging the current handling company to work based on specifications towards delivering smooth job within promised timing.
“We shall finish what they could not finish in seven years by the grace of God in one year.
“I like to urge the contractor to deliver, so that by December this place will be completed and we shall move the motor park especially the Bauchi road motor park because target to commence the construction of Gombe State secretariat at that point that will mean project upon project and we shall not fail the people.
“So work according to schedule and make sure you deliver, don’t compromise on quality and you should not also compromise on the timing so that the people will deliver on the dividends of democracy. I assure the people that this government will not fail them. We shall not leave any project unfinished and by the time our end comes in the administration. So work hard and we deliver,” Yahaya said.
Also, Commissioner for Housing, Kwami said efforts are also on to complete three clinics to serve users of the mega motor park.
“So far out of the 43 facilities that were constructed only two that they have not started that is public toilet. Over there we have a hotel and we will like you to have a glance.
“Behind us here, we have three clinics, almost completed. We can see the parking lot of the buses here. When you took over the work it was about 39 percent in terms of completion but with what you have achieved is almost 70 percent,” Kwami said.
The governor also inspected road construction around London Mai Dorawa, Kagarawal as well as completed works in Kuruba, Yalmatu Deba.
