Gombe State Deputy Governor, Manassah Jatau, has urged christians to sustain prayers against societal ills that have become a clog in the wheel of progress in the Nation’s socio-economic development.

Jatau made this revelation at ECWA church Number One, Gombe, stressing that at this critical period of the Nation’s history, which is characterized by a lot of anomalies it can only be remedied with sustained prayers.
He noted with concern that “unity in the church which, could make christian prayers more powerful and acceptable to God is lacking. There is need to shun denominational differences and see everybody who professes Jesus as saviour, as a fellow christian.”
Making reference to a song sung by the women fellowship subgroup on building walls, the Deputy Governor emphasized the need for the church to build spiritual protective walls against sin and other vices that have made the church stagnant.
Jatau added, “Christians should not relent in preaching the gospel of salvation especially now that the challenges are greater and enormous, but should be careful of false teachers who would bring false teachings in order to cause confusion in the church.

Also speaking, Kogi State Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja, harped on the need to uplift others through assisting the needy, as a service to God and humanity.
He charged the congregation to pray for God to intervene in the state of insecurity militating against the progress in line with biblical truth that, “in vain do the watchmen labour where the Lord does not watch,” he said.
Onoja pledged to send the sum of one million naira to be shared amongst orphans in the Church, and congratulated the church for existing for a period of over eighty years.
Delivering the sermon, an Elder in Church, Bitrus Dogo, took his text from Galatians Chapter 6, verse 7 to 10, admonished the congregation, especially the well- to-do, to assist the needy.
Dogo spoke on the theme, “Assisting the needy, glorifies God” said God blesses people with wealth to help others, and in doing so, you shouldn’t expect something in return, otherwise, it will not be godly.
He however advised that caution should be applied when assisting on matters pertaining to sensitive security matters so as not to get into trouble.
