Gombe Landa Boys emerge winner of league one

Landa Boys of Madaki quarters have topped the chart of league one, beating Nasarawo FC of Nasarawo quarters to emerge winner of the tournament.
The boys defeated their opponent in a penalty shoot out, ending the round with 4-2 against Nasarawo FC, prior to the shoot out, Nasarawo FC (Idiya), with jersey 7 opened the floor before it was equalized by Landa Boys, making it 1-1.
The competition organised by Gombe State Football Association on Saturday, commemorated 2020/2021 state league one final and award ceremony, under the chairmanship of Alh. Ibrahim Gusau, at the popular Pantami Stadium.
Speaking, Deputy Governor, Manassah Daniel Jatau, who represented the State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, said the current administration would continue to harness potentials in youths for sports development towards job creation.
He noted with delight the importance of sports development in both private and public life, “it has the advantage of engaging the youths on gainful employment, reduction of hooliganism and thuggery as well as contributing in body fitness in accordance with health guidelines,” Jatau said.
He also seized the opportunity to solicit for prayers for the Gombe United Football Club to win their two matches in order to qualify for the premier league.
According to Chairman, Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Gusau, such event would be supported due to the huge impact.
Gusau commended the initiative of the Chairman Nigeria Football Association, Mr. Yakubu Sarma for working towards harnessing sports potentials in the youths.
He appreciated the contributions and support of the Governor in achieving the desired goals, pledging to on their own part support them to succeed.
Also speaking, The First Vice President Nigeria Football Federation, Seyi Akinwumi, said it was a thing of joy that the youths are doing their best in the area of football, adding that the government and the Football Association officials in the state are doing very well.
Saleh Abdullahi of Landa Boys emerged best player in the league one, while Jonathan Melah FC Nasarawo emerged best goalkeeper.
Among those awarded are; Amb. Sen. Garba Haruna for his financial support to grassroot football in the state, Coach Manu Garuba, for his effort in the upliftment of football, Governor Muhammadu Yahaya for his all round support and encouragement, and many others.
