Gombe ready to harness potentials of sports for job creation

Gombe State Deputy Governor, Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau, says the current administration would continue to harness potentials in youths for sports development towards job creation.
He made the remark in his address on Saturday, at the 2020/21_League one Final and Award Ceremony organised by the state Football Association at Pantami Stadium in the metropolis.

The Deputy Governor noted with delight the importance of sports development in both private and public life, stressing that it has the advantage of engaging the youths on gainful employment, reduction of hooliganism and thuggery as well as contributing in body fitness in accordance with health guidelines.
The Deputy Governor who also represented the Governor at the occasion assured that the present administration would continue to encourage sports officials and the youths for the overall interest of the state.

He called on the well to do, to complement the efforts of the government in the area of sports development , and also called on the youths to avail themselves to the opportunity presented to them to be able to build their potentials for a better future.
He congratulated the winners of the football competition and admonished the losers to work harder in future editions and not to molest others after competitions, urging them to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship.
He seized the opportunity to solicit for prayers for the Gombe United Football Club to win their two matches to qualify for the premier league.

Also, Chairman, Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Musa Gusau commended the initiative of the Chairman Nigeria Football Association, Mr. Yakubu Philip Sarma for working towards harnessing sports potentials in the youths.
He appreciated the contributions and support of the Governor in achieving the desired goals, pledging to on their own part support them to succeed.
On his part, First Vice President Nigeria Football Federation, Mr. Seyi Akinwumi said it was a thing of joy that the youths are doing their best in the area of football, commending the government and the Football Association officials in the state for doing very well.

The final tournament which was between The Nasarawo United Football Club of Nasarawo Quarters and The Lander Boys Football Club of Madaki Quarters all in Gombe Metropolis ended up in a penalty shoot out with Lander Boys Football Club emerging winner over its opponent The Nasarawo United Football Club of the Nasarawo Quarters, while Black Scorpion was left with the third position.
Dignitaries at the ceremony include Commissioner of Information, Mr. Julius Ishaya, Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters , Col.Adamu Depsia( retired) and the Bala Waja Alh. Mohammed Danjuma Mohammed among others.
Speaking earlier, Chairman, Gombe State Sports Commission, Malam Hamza Adamu Soye welcomed the Deputy Governor and the dignitaries who witnessed the finals of 2020/21 League one, Gombe state.
He appreciates the Governor, his Deputy and all sports lovers for contributions towards sports development in the state.
