Waja/Lunguda clash: Gombe declares dusk to dawn curfew in Balanga
Again, Gombe State Government has declared dusk to dawn curfew in over five communities following renewed communal violence that erupted between Lunguda and Waja ethnic groups in Balanga Local Government Area.
The communities involved includes; Nyuwar, Jessu, Heme, Yolde Gelentuku, Sikam, Wala-Lunguda.
Recall that the clash in April 2021 claimed no fewer than 21 lives, hundreds of stored food stuffs and buildings were burnt by yet to be identified assailants.
Our Correspondent reported that governments of both Adamawa and Gombe signed a peace accord, where militia activities, hunting (gaming) were outlawed to check incessant attacks.
According to a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibrahim Njodi, said this became necessary due to resumed hostilities.
He added that the decision was as a result of renewed violence that erupted in the communities on Tuesday.
Njodi said, “The curfew becomes necessary to restore peace and order in the affected areas.
“Security personnel have been deployed to restore normalcy while the curfew will subsist until further notice.”
