National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Gombe State Coordinator, Mrs Ada Imoni, has tasked 2021 batch B stream I corps to get equipped with skills, adding that time for dependence on government’s dream job has been eroded.

According to Imoni, corps members should deliberately continue the already identified skills towards leading a successful life.

She stated this on Monday, during the close of camp activities of 1,365 which includes; 650 males and 715 females, at the temporary orientation ground in Amada, Akko LGA.

The passing out ceremony is happening three weeks after the fresh graduates from various varsities cutting across; private, public and international institutions were deployed to the regimented camp.

The Coordinator explained, “My dear children, the NYSC has equipped you with skills through the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme, the ten-day hands on training was to give you insight into your chosen skills free.

“I implore you to to continue with post camp training with your facilitators. Take a cue from your predecessors who dedicated their time to learning skills and are now masters of their chosen skills and owners of businesses on Gombe State.

“Time for dependence on the Government for illusive jobs has passed. You must mould the future you wish to have as leaders of tomorrow and the nation’s ray of hope.”

While lamenting on the increasing cases of accidents involving corps members, Imoni urged them to desist from night travel, stressing that corps should help NYSC management to keep them safe.

Imoni added, “Young compatriots, we have liaised with the various chairmen of the eleven Local Government Areas to convey you to your Places of Primary Assignment (PPA), for those going on relocation, you are advised to board vehicles at designated motor parks and at all cost, avoid embarking on night journeys.

“Your security and welfare is a priority to management of the scheme and the Gombe State Government. It is also painful when the scheme losses a corps member especially through road traffic . Help us to keep you safe.”
