Gombe @25 : Appoints 18-man committee to oversee celebration

Gombe State Government on Monday, appointed a committee to organise activities marking the 25th anniversary celebration of the creation of Gombe State on 1st October.
The Deputy Governor Dr. Manassah Jatau, who is the Chairman of the committee performed the inauguration, on behalf of the Governor Muhammadu Yahaya.
While inaugurating the Committee, the Deputy Governor explained that the creation of the State has brought tremendous and continuous economic growth, peaceful coexistence, and improvement in the provision of infrastructures.
According to Jatau, with all these, no one would be in doubt about the success story of the birth, growth and development of the state.
He said, “We can only appreciate how lucky Gombe people were, if we recall that the only state or region created after a civilian government in Nigeria was the Mid-West in 1963 later known as Bendel.
“Ever since subsequent aspirations for states to be created by the Civilian Administration since 1999 to date has been an exercise of waiting for the train that will only not come but that they are at the wrong station.”
Recall that about two weeks ago, the spokesman of the senate accepted that creating states during a civilian regime is a herculean task and that the stakes are too high to be accomplished, thus a near impossibility, based on the bench mark.
“Chief of Staff Government House, Honorable Commissioners of Information, Local Government, Works, Women Affairs, Science and Technology.
“Others are; Acting State APC Chairman , Women Leader, Youth leader, Special Adviser on Security, Depsia Adamu, Director General Research and Documentation, Dr. Muazu Mohammed, Three Members of the state House of Assembly, three APC members all from the three Senatorial Districts, and Director Special Services and Political Affairs, Alh. Bala Sarki is to serve as Deputy Secretary,” Jatau listed as members.
The terms of reference includes; “To draw and implement program of activities to mark the 25th anniversary of the creation of Gombe State, to identify and propose distinguished Nigerians that could be invited to commission some of the projects executed by this administration, and to identify prominent personalities that may be invited to grace the occasion.”
