Deba emirate confers ‘Makama Babba Deba’ title on Gombe SSG
In what appears to be a barrage of titles the Secretary to Gombe State Government (SSG), Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, has yet again been conferred with the traditional title of ‘Makam Babba of Deba’ by the Emir of Deba His Royal Highness QS Ahmed Usman in recognition of his track record as a renowned Educationist, an astute administrator and social reformer.
In a letter of appointment presented to the SSG in his office through a high powered delegation from the Deba Emirate the letter read in part, ” With gratitude to Allah ( SWT), I am pleased to convey to you the approval of His Royal Highness, QS Ahmed Usman, Emir of Deba the conferment of Traditional title of MAKAMA BABBA DEBA. This is in recognition of your Contribution to the development and well being of Deba Kingdom, Gombe State and the Country at large.”
Speaking further, the leader of the delegation and a former Peoples Democratic Party , Chieftain (PDP) who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Ahmed Aji (Ganuwan Deba), lauded the present administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s, developmental stride describing it as a well focused government ever in the history of the state.
He therefore called on all and sundry to rally support for the present administration in the state to succeed in turning around the fortunes of Gombe around.
He appealed to the Government to consider establishing a boarding School as well a tertiary institution in Deba town, in the interest of equity and Justice which the Inuwa Yahaya’s led administration is famous for.
Reacting to the honour done to him, Prof. Njodi expressed delight, adding that he was overwhelmed.
” I am highly pleased and Honoured by this recognition and I accept it wholeheartedly. I have never dreamt or thought of such, I am overwhelmed and appreciative of this honour done to me by his royal Highness,” he said.
The SSG said he would soon pay a thank you visit to the Emir of Deba and inquire about the roles and responsibilities of ‘MAKAMA BABBA OF DEBA’ title.
He promised to perform his roles of being one of the traditional title holders of the Emirate.
The SSG also enjoined the people of Deba Emirate and the entire citizenry to keep faith with Yahaya’s administration, while harping the need for peaceful co-existence.
Also, Permanent Secretary of the SSG’s Office Mohammed Umar and some staff members of the office were among those present at the presentation of title.
