Gombe board refunds 332 intending pilgrims N495m
No fewer than 332 persons from 2020/2021 intending pilgrims who applied for refund have been paid by the Gombe State Muslims Pilgrims Welfare Board (GSMPWB).
The board said they were successfully refunded about N495,174,000, following their application to get their payment back.
Confirming this on Thursday, in a statement which was made available by Head of Media of the Board Hauwa Mohammed, the affected persons have been fully refunded.
Recall that the Saudi authority had cancelled 2020 Hajj, following the outbreak of Covid-19 around the world.
Mohammed said, “The Hajj deposit refunds are still in progress for those who wish to collect their deposits.
“The board wishes to call on Intending Pilgrims from the State wishing to make Hajj deposit for 2022 Hajj exercise to exercise patience as the Board is still awaiting for further guidelines and directives from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).”
Also, Executive Secretary of the Board, Alh. Sa’adu Adamu, urged other intending pilgrims who rolled over their Hajj deposits to Hajj 2022 exercise to intensify prayers for control of Covid-19.
“They should continue to pray to Almighty Allah to ease the Covid-19 pandemic to enable the Muslim Ummah across the globe to perform the Hajj rites as usual.
“I wish to extend my gratitude to the Gombe State Government under the able Leadership of His Excellency, Alh. Muhammadu Inuwa Yahya for all the supports the board enjoys from the state Government,” Adamu added.
