The School of Health Information Management, Institute of Health Sciences and Technology, Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe, has conducted its first induction and oath-taking ceremony for graduates of Health Information Management.
In a press statement signed by the Principal Information and Public Relations Officer, Musa Adamu, the ceremony was organised in collaboration with the Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria (HRORBN) and held at the Idris Mohammed Multipurpose Hall, College of Medical Sciences, Gombe State University.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe, Professor Yusuf Mohammed Abdullahi, congratulated the newly inducted graduates and urged them to uphold professionalism, discipline and dedication in their various places of work.
Prof. Yusuf also advised parents to encourage and support their children to pursue higher education, stressing the importance of obtaining at least a degree qualification to enhance career opportunities and professional development.
Earlier, in her welcome address, the D-CMAC, Research and Training, Dr. Halima Usman Faruk, said the graduates had obtained diplomas in Health Information Management and had subsequently been licensed to practise their profession.
Dr. Halima urged the graduates to uphold professional ethics, demonstrate competence and carry out their responsibilities diligently.
Also speaking, the Registrar of the Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria, Alhaji Babagana Mustapha, represented by Alhaji I. Rahim Sani Halilu, expressed delight at witnessing the historic occasion and congratulated the graduates on their induction into the profession.
He advised them to remain loyal, ethical and committed to professional standards in the discharge of their duties.
The programme featured the administration of the professional oath to the newly inducted graduates by the Registrar of the College, Malam Suleiman Shehu, formally ushering them into professional practice as Health Records Officers.
